Andrea Cormier

An East coaster by origin, Andrea Cormier is now an emerging artist based in Montreal, Quebec. Cormier completed a Bachelor’s degree in Anthropology and Japanese studies at Mount Allison University in Sackville, New Brunswick in 2012. She is now working on a Bachelor’s degree in Photography at Concordia University.

With her academic base, Cormier’s earlier work often explored cultural and sociological frameworks. Recently, her work has become more autobiographical, exploring themes such as memory, nostalgia, home and identity.

“In this series ‘Memory Chambers’, I returned to the place where I grew up. These are the gardens and forests behind my childhood home. I wanted to compare the images I create now as photographs with the images stored in my memory. This process has become a therapeutic meditation”

Nice. Lovely subtle colours and selective focus.
