This image comes from the MY STORY project by Cameras for Healing, a not-for-profit volunteer based organization founded by Maurice Henri, a photographer in Moncton, New Brunswick.

MY STORY is a six week program that provides Moncton youth aged 10-16 with a camera as a means to guide them in personal development. Photography is the vehicle utilized to facilitate self discovery and develop self worth and belonging within the community. The MY STORY project provides a safe space for reflection, exchange of ideas, and the creation of art.

Inspired by the intricate tonal movements within Beethoven’s 5th Symphony, the objective here was to inspire young photographers to create their version of “the sound of colour”. The concept, while being stimulated by the music of Beethoven was to fuse form and colour to create movement and harmony in an image.

The artistic process promoted a meditation that informed, supported, and complemented the creative philosophy of the Cameras for healing - MY STORY project.
